Trevor McCartney

Trevor is a venue specialist with 37 years’ experience in the international conference and events industry. Peers would say that he is an effective people manager with a proven track record of leading diverse and multicultural teams to achieve and exceed business objectives. He was a key member of the pre-opening teams for 3 major UK conference centres; The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London; The International Convention Centre, Birmingham and Edinburgh International Conference Centre and represented each venue at many international conferences and presentations.

On his return to Birmingham, he was one of the lead business planning consultants for new venues in Hong Kong (AsiaWorld-Expo) and Dublin (National Convention Centre {now; The International Convention Centre Dublin}).

His first overseas role was Director of International Sales and Operations at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall in Pattaya, Thailand where he was a Local Host Committee member and venue manager for the ICCA Congress 2007.

From 2008 he was part of the pre-opening executive teams for Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Malaysia (CEO), Qatar National Convention Centre, Doha (Director of Business Development) and the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat (General Manager). Trevor is currently part of the GainingEdge venue consulting team for the China National Convention Center – Phase II in Beijing, opening in 2025 as the premier purpose built venue for the international convention market.
