Mike is a seasoned specialist in destination marketing and convention bureau development, bringing over 30 years of expertise in the tourism and business events industry. Since joining GainingEdge in 2007, he has led numerous high-impact consulting projects for clients across the globe, including in Australia, Dubai, Fiji, Japan, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, Qatar, Rwanda, Serbia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, and the USA.

He played a pivotal role as lead consultant in the establishment and capacity building of the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau and the Global MICE Cities Programme in Japan. His broad skill set spans strategic planning, destination sales and marketing, product development, bidding, and business development. Additionally, he oversees GainingEdge’s In-Market Sales Representation services.

Prior to GainingEdge, Mike served as General Manager, Sales & Marketing at the Melbourne Convention & Visitors Bureau. His career also includes senior marketing positions at Tourism Australia, where he was instrumental in launching the organization’s presence in Asia and managing travel trade development in the UK and Ireland.

A driving force behind industry initiatives, Mike played a key role in the creation of AIME, the largest MICE trade show in the Asia Pacific region, and the establishment of the BestCities Global Alliance. He is a former Victorian State Chair and National President of Meetings & Events Australia (MEA).
